A deliciously cozy and easy weeknight dinner that combines the rich flavors of French onion soup with tender chicken and fluffy biscuits—all baked into one comforting dish.
Ingredients
-
1 tube (16.3 oz) refrigerated flaky biscuits (such as Pillsbury Grands!®)
-
2 cups cooked shredded chicken (rotisserie chicken works great)
-
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
-
1 cup shredded Gruyère or Swiss cheese
-
1 can (10.5 oz) condensed French onion soup
-
1 cup sour cream
-
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
-
1 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1 teaspoon dried thyme
-
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
-
Preheat oven & prepare dish: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
-
Cut biscuits: Cut each biscuit into 6–8 small pieces. Spread evenly in the baking dish.
-
Mix chicken & soup: In a large bowl, combine shredded chicken, condensed French onion soup, sour cream, garlic powder, and dried thyme. Stir until well mixed.
-
Combine with biscuits: Pour the chicken mixture over the biscuit pieces and gently stir to coat.
-
Add cheese: Sprinkle mozzarella and Gruyère (or Swiss) cheese evenly over the top.
-
Bake: Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, or until the biscuits are cooked through and the top is golden and bubbly.
-
Garnish & rest: Remove from oven and sprinkle with grated Parmesan and chopped parsley. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
Tips for Success
-
For extra French onion flavor, stir in ½ cup of caramelized onions with the chicken mixture.
-
If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and add it to the chicken and soup mix.
-
Serve with a simple green salad or steamed green beans to round out the meal.
Enjoy this warm, cheesy, and satisfying dish that comes together in under an hour!
